CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The “One Big, Beautiful Bill” is a major win for President Donald Trump’s political agenda.

While some are excited, others are sounding the alarm.

For Republican Representative John McGuire, the bill marks a victory lap.

Meanwhile, Virginia Democrats, like Senator Tim Kaine, are sharing a stark warning about how it will impact health care.

“It is an effort to slash programs that every day people rely on to give a tax break to billionaires,” Senator Kaine said. “About 267,000 Virginians will lose Medicaid.”

“It gets the government off of your back, and puts more money in your pocket,” Representative McGuire said. “I mean, it’s just freedom, limited government, less taxes. Now, it’s not perfect, and we have many different personalities in many different districts, but with all the back and forth, I think it’s the best deal we can get.”

As the House heads home for the Memorial Day break, the bill now heads to the Senate, where changes are expected.
