What: Shovels & Rope are simultaneously the pride of Charleston, a visionary Americana duo and a couple of very nice people. They’ve strayed further and further from their basic drums/guitar sound over the years, but there’s still something passionate and primal about just the two of them up onstage blazing away. Langhorne Slim opens the show.

What: Rather than melt faces on a Saturday night, Art Bar gets a little quieter with sets from Holy Pine (a Columbia trio that labels themselves “dead Dad rock”), Brian K & The Parkway (a heartland rock duo from Washington, DC) and a headlining set from local folksters The Water Kickers featuring intricate harmonies and layered acoustic instrumentation.

What: A classical pianist renowned for his exceptional technique, Ilya Yakushev has performed for thousands of people on three different continents. He’s played at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco and the Great Philharmonic Hall in St. Petersburg. And his critically acclaimed collaborations with orchestras such as the San Francisco Symphony, the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Boston Pops have solidified his reputation as one of today’s top classical players.

What: A beloved Columbia event, Tasting Notes, returns. Sample over 80 different wines, taste delicious dishes from 20 restaurants, enjoy live performances from Reggie Sullivan and Cola Samba Explosion, and grab a brew from Columbia Craft Brewing. And even better, your ticket price goes toward funding the SC Philharmonic Orchestra.
