A Springfield woman who was hurt in a domestic violence situation last week has died from her injuries. Sangamon County Coroner said the woman was pronounced dead Sunday morning by the staff at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. He identified her as 65-year-old Karla Roberts who was taken to the hospital on March 17 after Springfield Police officers found her at her home on Sand Hill Roads. They were responding to a report of domestic violence and Roberts had sustained a “traumatic head injury.” A short time after officers responded to Roberts’ home, 61-year-old Christopher Roberts jumped off the Peoria Road/Sherman Boulevard bridge over the Sangamon River. Officers rescued him from the river but were unable to save his life.
