SPRINGFIELD — The city is continuing its efforts to upgrade its school buildings with a proposal to replace three of them, fix roofs on others and, for the first time, install greener heating systems.

The School Committee approved a dozen projects on Thursday that will now be submitted to the Massachusetts School Building Authority for funding.

“Springfield brings in more money than any other community,” said Patrick Roach, chief financial officer for the schools, of the reimbursements.
