SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield Police Department has suspended an officer for five days without pay following his arrest in Connecticut this week.

The officer, Justin Perez, was placed on administrative duties without a firearm ever since the department learned that Connecticut officials were investigating allegations against him, the department said in a statement Thursday morning.

The department’s internal investigations unit had been communicating with Connecticut law enforcement about Perez since October, the statement added.
