WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Today looks like Sunday as cool morning temperatures in the 30s and 40s eventually climb into the middle to upper 50s as mostly cloudy skies slowly turn mostly sunny this afternoon.

Tuesday will be windy and warmer before a potent storm system sweeps across Kansas. Highs tomorrow in the lower to middle 70s will be accompanied by south winds between 25 and 35 mph along with gusts up to 50 mph.

Showers and storms will rapidly develop Tuesday evening along both a dry line, over southwest Kansas, and a cold front over northern Kansas. Any storm that forms will be capable of producing up to tennis ball size hail, wind gusts up 70 mph, and heavy rainfall. A tornado or two cannot be ruled out, but the chances are small.

Expect the storms to arrive in the Wichita area after sunset, most likely between 10 pm and 2 am. All areas should be storm free by the Wednesday morning commute, if not sooner.

Another storm system is expected to impact the state this weekend. While severe weather is not expected, heavy rainfall is possible, if not likely as he slow-moving weather maker crawls across Kansas. While the Wichita area stays wet, a rain and snow mix is possible across central and western parts of the state.

Fri: Low: 43. High: 58. Cloudy; rain showers in the afternoon.

Sat: Low: 40. High: 49. Cloudy and breezy with rain likely.

Sun: 37. High: 58. Partly cloudy.
