PHOENIX —
The Scottsdale Police Department is teaming up with other local law enforcement agencies for a DUI task force to maintain road safety during Arizona Bike Week. The popular event will take place Wednesday through Sunday at Westworld of Scottsdale near the Loop-101 freeway and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard. Arizona Bike Week is the Southwest’s largest motorcycle event. Last year’s rally and concert series drew more than 80,000 people.
This week’s concert lineup consists of Jackyl, Stone Temple Pilots, Mudvayne and Marilyn Manson. In addition to live music, Arizona Bike Week features flat track racing, charity rides, stunt shows and other unique entertainment geared toward motorcycle aficionados.

As part of the DUI task force, officers will be patrolling roads in the event area from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. nightly.

In addition, there will be a Know Your Limit educational outreach effort near the main entrance to the event, where attendees can use a portable breath tester to check their blood-alcohol levels. Scottsdale officers are partnering with the Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa and Salt River police departments as well as the Arizona Department of Public Safety and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. The effort is a partnership with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Arizona Department of Transportation and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In addition, Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky has proclaimed April as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. “Arizona Bike Week is an exciting time for our city, and we want everyone to enjoy it safely,” Borowsky said in a
press release. “By raising awareness about motorcycle safety and encouraging drivers to be extra vigilant, we can help prevent collisions and keep our streets safe for everyone.”
