ORLANDO, Fla. - A Florida woman has been arrested under suspicion of animal cruelty months after an animal was found dead in a bathroom at Orlando International Airport, according to the Orlando Police Department.

On Dec. 16, 2024, an employee at Orlando International Airport found a "dead animal" inside a women's bathroom located before the security checkpoint, according to a brief news release from the Orlando Police Department.

"Based on the investigation, the Orlando Police Department issued a warrant for the arrest of Alison Agatha Lawrence for Aggravated Animal Cruelty, a third-degree felony," police said.

An arrest warrant was issued and Lawrence was arrested on Tuesday, March 18, in Clermont, Florida, according to the Orlando police and Lake County jail records.

Lawrence was booked into the Lake County jail at 3:54 p.m. She was being held on a $5,000 bond, online records state.

Few details about the investigation have been released. It is unclear what type of animal was found in the bathroom, how it died, nor the apparent connection to Lawrence. FOX 35 reached out to Orlando police for clarification and additional information, and was instructed to submit a public records request for the arrest affidavit. Those documents were not immediately available via the Lake County or Orange County Clerk of Courts websites.
