GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - On this episode of Florida Man Adventures we are down on the farm in Gainesville, at Crossroads Farm and Apiary. Let’s check it out. Crossroads Farm and Apiary provides a great way to learn about the way we grow our food. The opportunity to see a working farm up close and personal brings in thousands of visitors a year. “So, this is our third strawberry season, so we bought the place a little over three years ago. We do a fall festival in the fall and then strawberry u-pick in the spring,” said Jacob Amlong, owner of Crossroads Farm and Apiary. Teaching people about the farm and how to responsibly work the land to make delicious foods at the same time fuels the staff. “What we really love is like even today we have a field trip out here, and being able to let the kids see where their fruit is coming from. How the variation of the different stages of where the fruit is at growing, and stuff like that. And just the excitement of them getting to pick fruit instead of just picking it up at the store,” said Amlong. The farm is a great place for field trips or just getting out for some sunshine. They have a country store, a concession stand with loads of sweet strawberry treats, and a massive playground. “There is a big bounce pillow that the kids love to play on, and just some other little games and stuff like that. And a few rides that they can ride on when they come out,” said Amlong. Picking fresh strawberries in a beautiful setting is never a bad way to spend the day.
