Magic Hall of Fame inductee Dwight Howard leads the team in career points, rebounds and blocks, winning 3 Defensive Player of the Year awards. Dwight Howard, the central figure in the team’s last NBA Finals run, became a permanent part of franchise lore on Monday as he was inducted into the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame. In addition to the induction ceremony, Howard was honored during Orlando’s game vs. the Los Angeles Lakers. Originally selected with No. 1 overall in the 2004 NBA Draft by the Magic, Howard played eight seasons with the Magic from 2004-12. He appeared in 621 regular season games (620 starts) with Orlando, averaging 18.4 points, 13 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 2.2 blocks and one steal in 36.2 minutes per game, while shooting 57.7% overall. Howard also appeared and started in 57 playoff games with Orlando, averaging 19.9 ppg, 14.4 rpg, 1.4 apg and 2.8 bpg in 39.4 mpg while shooting 60% overall. He helped the Magic reach the 2009 NBA Finals and the Eastern Conference Finals in 2010. Dwight Howard is inducted to the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame in a pregame ceremony. During his tenure with the Magic, Howard was named to the All-NBA First Team in five consecutive seasons (2007-12), the most of any player in Orlando history, and was All-NBA Third Team once (’06-07). In 2009-10, he became the first player in franchise history to be named to the All-NBA First Team unanimously. Howard became the first player in NBA history to win the Kia Defensive Player of the Year award in three straight seasons (2008-11) and was collected All-Defensive First Team honors four consecutive times (’08-12) and was All-Defensive Second Team once (’07-08). He was an All-Star with the Magic as well, collecting nods from 2007-12 and was the leading vote-getter in ’09 and ’12. Howare was an All-Rookie First Team member (2004-05), an NBA Player of the Month six times and NBA Player of the Week 18 times — both of which are team records. He also won the Rich and Helen DeVos Community Enrichment Award a team-record six times (’04-05, ’07-12), given to the player who dedicates his efforts beyond the basketball court to enhance the lives of others. Howard is the team’s all-time regular-season leader in points (11,435), rebounds (8,072), blocks (1,344), free throws made (3,366) and attempted (5,727) and minutes played (22,471). He also leads the team in all-time playoff points (1,133), rebounds (818), blocks (158), field goals (393), free throws made (347) and attempted (590) and games played (57). Howard is a 2025 Finalist for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. The Orlando Magic unveiled its inaugural Hall of Fame class on April 9, 2014, naming the first two inductees, Magic co-founder Pat Williams and the team’s first-ever Draft pick and current community ambassador, Nick Anderson. Howard joins Shaquille O’Neal (’15), Rich DeVos (’16), Anfernee Hardaway (’17), Jimmy Hewitt (’17), Tracy McGrady (’18), David Steele (’19), Darrell Armstrong (’20), John Gabriel (’22), Brian Hill (’22) and Dennis Scott (’23) in the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame.
