SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Darling doggies are sought for the City of Springfield’s 2026 “Canines for Clean Water” calendar with submissions accepted through April 7, according to Springfield city officials.

Duke the Bloodhound was Mr. October 2025, shown here at Dorris Ranch.

The city said that 12 selected winners will receive a special photoshoot and be featured in the 2026 Canines for Clean Water calendar. The contest has been held since 2012 as dual means of celebrating local pets and promoting clean water initiatives, Springfield officials said. The city said that pet waste left on the ground can wash into the Willamette and McKenzie rivers through storm drains, contributing to water pollution, and the calendar encourages preventative measures to keep the rivers clean.

Mr. November 2025, Kruz, is seen here splashing in the Willamette River at Island Park.

“Springfield loves its dogs, and we love celebrating them while sharing an important message about protecting our local waterways,” said Peter Jaeger, an Environmental Services Technician for the City of Springfield. “Picking up pet waste is one of the easiest ways to keep bacteria out of our rivers.”

River, who was Ms. August 2025, is seen here surveying her family's property along the McKenzie River.

Entrants must live in Springfield or Glenwood, take the “Scoop the Poop Pledge” to commit to keeping Springfield’s waterways clean, and submit a photo of their dog on the City of Springfield’s official Facebook contest post or by to the Springfield Stormwater Team.
