The Arizona Republic is tracking the 2026 high school football class and their college commitments. Keep coming back for more information as this list will grow through the spring and summer.

Last year, Queen Creek 2026 quarterback Tait Reynolds gave Clemson a commitment to play both football and baseball. Tolleson wide receiver Rico Blassingame recently committed to Minnesota. And Gilbert Higley defensive back Justice Brathwaite has given BYU a commitment.

Sandra Day O'Connor OL commits to Ohio State

Phoenix Sandra Day O'Connor junior offensive lineman Tucker Smith is the latest from the 2026 class in Arizona high school to commit to a major college.

Smith, 6-foot-5, 280 pounds, an Arizona Republic All-Arizona selection as a junior, announced his commitment to Ohio State on Wednesday. Ohio State pulled away from Notre Dame to win the national championship last college football season.

"I picked Ohio State because it felt like home," Smith told The Republic. "I have visited a lot of schools and met with a lot of coaches. This felt right.

"Ohio State also has an excellent tradition of winning. I also have family in Ohio and grew up going to that part of the country every summer. I am very excited about the opportunity to continue playing football after high school. And I’m really grateful to all of the coaches who recruited me."

Former SDO coach Brian Cole worked with former NFL offensive lineman Richie Incognito when he was playing at Glendale Mountain Ridge and feels Smith has the same kind of potential.

"Since Tucker’s freshman season, we knew he was going to be special," Cole said. "Big, strong kid who could move really well. But mostly it was his demeanor on the field. He plays with a mean streak, a nastiness that you need to be a great O-lineman. He’s a mauler."
